Plastics test methods (QA-1)

Purpose and scope of the training:

Theoretical classes:

  • Influence of the types of plastics on the specificity of control and measurement;
  • Research methods used in the processing of plastics;
  • Principles of good laboratory practice;
  • Examples and construction of equipment for testing plastics;
  • Preparation of samples, devices and selection of conditions for the proper conduct of measurement activities;
  • The essence of the studied features and reference to practical applications;
  • Methodology of device calibration;
  • Getting to know the applicable standards in measurement matters.

Practical:

  • Training in the use of control and measurement equipment;
  • Getting to know the dedicated firmware;
  • Individual work with devices.

Equipment available:

Analytical and technical balances, moisture analyzer, basic tools for measuring dimensions, polarizing microscope, strength machine, gloss meter, thermal imaging camera, spectrophotometer, hardness testers, plastometer, ATOS-Q 3D scanner (NOTE: Scanner support in the 3D-1 course )

MSc. Patryk Gratka

A graduate of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology in the field of material engineering with a specialization in engineering and technology of polymers. He has extensive professional experience in the field of laboratory research, production management methodology and quality assurance in the process. He is particularly interested in the extrusion and injection molding process. He is an experienced trainer willing to share his knowledge. Privately, he is passionate about computer games, youtuber and animal lover.

MSc. Ewa Makuła

Engineer of the Dopak Research and Development Center. She graduated from Chemical Technology at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Wrocław University of Technology. From 2015 professionally associated with the chemical industry. She carried out research work on processing of biodegradable plastics. She has gained several years of experience in the field of polymer synthesis, and also has knowledge in the field of technology commercialization. Privately, passionate about mountain climbing, popular science books and music.
